TUT4794 - Malta - QV ½d. Buff -> ½d. Yellow P.14 Set 10v M
Malta, 1863-1881, SG4-13QV Wmk C CC P.14 ½d. Buff --> ½d. Yellow Set ALL 10 P.14 different shades mainly fine mint, one or two unused. Naturally this set is notoriously difficult, in fact Stanley Gibbons does not list the 10 different shades in a set format and there is obviously a good reason why because in fifty full-time philatelic years I have never seen a 'set' as such offered. Of course we all know that it is inevitable that some shades may not be deemed as such by experts but we also know that it would cost approaching £600 including VAT to have each ½d. expertised which is completely untenable when the sum of £600 would purchase a significant portion of this set. Therefore let's agree that this accomplished well-shaded set of 10 shades has potential for a total SG catalogue value in the sum of £3,260= now let's deduct an arbitrary 25% and 'round' the catalogue value down to £2,400= then leverage price (reducing) against £2,400= catalogue price Let's see where this takes us for you may never find or put together another set of shades as credible as these, Oh - and by the way - if you purchase and have the odd shade already in respectable condition we will happily agree an exchange credit against other UPA Auction or TUT lots - but - you must pay for this lot in full first because we are not accepting trade-ins of P.14 shades against this set, which in our opinion is as good as it gets. Once in lifetime (UPA CERTIFICATE)
Cat value £3260
