United States of America : Columbus $4. Bright carmine, fresh lovely colour fine mint larger part original gum, larger paper hinge example, well centred S, upper marginal imperforate. A rare stamp of which only 26,350 were printed, imagine how many in fine condition may exist today. $4 in 1893 was the equivalent of one and a half days average salary (on the basis of a six day 10 hours a day week) - imagine a £100+ face value stamp today.
